Treating Relationship Addiction at The Living Room

Our relationship groups run on a Monday between 10.30am and 2.30pm.  Please call 01438 355649 for an initial assessment or email enquiries@thelivingroom.me.uk

Group treatment is a key feature of The Living Room providing a community of support and acceptance that are vital ingredients in enabling recovery. Due to the sensitive nature of love and sex addiction we run a dedicated relationship group that is facilitated by our qualified therapists. Our approach enables clients to face the consequences of their behaviours, to stop using old coping mechanisms to deal with pain and anxiety (e.g. love and sex), to face longstanding hurts and find new strategies for managing anxiety. Essentially, we teach people to love and value themselves so that they do not need to rely on someone else to fulfil this role for them. As in all our treatment, our relationship group incorporates a range of approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy and Person Centred Counselling. Underlying all our work is a spiritual dimension that encourages clients to discover and develop their own higher purpose to their lives within the 12-Step framework used by Alcoholics Anonymous. We encourage all clients engaged in treatment for relationship addiction to also attend local SLAA (Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous) meetings.
