Together we can make a difference in people’s lives

Why you

The Government, communities and businesses, are recognising the need to work together to solve the problems we face in our society.

Your organisation could lead the way through providing practical support to our Charity.

Why us, how we are different

Social Return On Investment

We don’t operate waiting lists, we offer help when it’s required, in a moment of crisis or when it’s right for the individual.

We rarely find that an individual has only one addiction; we are one of the only few organisations that treat people with multiple addictions.

We offer private quality treatment for 5 days per week, free of charge to our clients.

People attend The Living Room out of choice and not because they have to. We pride ourselves on the professionalism of our service, the homely feel of our therapy rooms.

People referred to us are seven times more likely to leave our services abstinent compared to the national average for treatment providers (based on National Treatment Agency Figures for 2008-2009).

We operate an Ofsted registered crèche that enable those with pre-school children to access our services.

Our lead group facilitators are all qualified counsellors who once suffered addiction themselves thus they understand the process, bringing them closer to the client.

“I would be dead by now, if not for The Living Room” – client statement

Our achievements

Our solutions to the problems of addiction provide an excellent social return on investment:

  • They lead to children in ‘looked after care’ being returned to parents and breaking the intergenerational ‘cycle of addiction’.
  • They ensure that those who gain recovery with us receive the support that they need to move back into work, education and training.
  • They have prevented numerous families from breaking up and saved many lives.

What we need:

  • Funds, donations
  • Time and expertise (professional services such as IT, accounting, legal)
  • Events sponsorship
  • Equipment and furnishings that you may not need any longer
  • Spread the news of our good work

As a local charity we are not able to command the TV and radio exposure that can be afforded by national charities. However, the work of The Living Room is just as vital. Treating addiction tackles the causes behind a wide range of health and social ills including: many cancers, heart disease, diabetes, child neglect, domestic violence, crime, depression, poverty, welfare dependence, poor mental health and suicide.
